You realize the benefits of good health and decided to go on a diet. One diet that you could try is a low carb diet. Carb is short for carbohydrates.

A low carb diet means that you should stop consuming so many carbohydrates.
The consumption of certain carbohydrates leads to increasing your insulin levels which often results in obesity.
When you do start a low carb diet, you are not eating foods that are high in carbohydrates.
These are foods that are usually high in starch or sugar. You must eat foods that have high proteins, fats or fiber instead.
A low carb diet is usually associated with the Atkins diet. There are many diets that are low carb diets these days.
The Zone, the Protein Power Lifeplan and the South Beach diet are also low carb diets that are out there.
These low carb diets will differ since there is no acceptable definition what exactly is a low carb diet.
Everybody has different thoughts about what it is so you should not expect an all around consensus with such a diet.
A low carb diet is based on a scientific principle. The scientific principle is the relationship of carbohydrates, the effects of carbs & sugar and hormone production.
You must properly maintain the blood sugar levels in your body. You must achieve a balance between the two hormones in your body called insulin and glucagons.
Most Western diets are high in carbs so every time a Westerner eats, they raise the production of insulin. The Western diet also causes fat since the diet usually has too many calories.
When you do a low carb diet, it discourages insulin production and this should eliminate the growth of fat in the body.
These diets usually are controversial, but there are studies have been done to prove that they can work.
Low carb diet supporters usually want people to reduce their intake of carbs to a very low level.
They advocate the controlling the amounts of food you eat such as breads, pastas, potatoes, rice and other foods that are full of sugar or starch.
Some low carb diets recommend that you should eat between 20 to 30 grams of carbs a day.
The different kinds of low carb diets usually disagree about many different things. They disagree about how many carbs should be allowed.
They disagree about what certain types of foods are preferred. They disagree on what foods should not be part of the diet. In the end, a low carb diet is not an exact science.
